In Tayside we represent approximately 1200 Police Officers from Constable to Chief Inspector and also represent Special Constables in the Force. That number is subject to minor fluctuation from time to time as officers retire and new recruits start with the Force. The increase in establishment following the Scottish Government pledge of 1000 extra Scottish officers by 2011 is most welcome and we hope that future budget planning over the next few years does not mean that the number reduces once again.

3 YEAR POLICE PAY DEAL - I am delighted to advise our members that I have today received clarification from the Scottish Government that the 3rd year of our deal is to be honoured. This means that our pay will increase as previously agreed by 2.55% as of 01 September 2010.
