In Tayside we represent approximately 1170 Police Officers from Constable to Chief Inspector and also represent Special Constables in the Force. That number is subject to minor fluctuation from time to time as officers retire and new recruits start with the Force. We look forward to the number increasing over the next few years if the Scottish Governments promise bears fruit.

PENSION COMMUTATION CHANGES - I am delighted to advise that on 09 September 2008, the Scottish Government, following discussions with the Scottish Police Federation and the Fire Brigade Union, have ratified the increase to pension commutation multipliers announced in June by the UK Home Secretary. The mechanics as to how officers who have retired already will be advised when they are to hand.
The decision to backdate the changes to 01 October 2007 has also been ratified.
You are reminded that an advice document relating to this matter has been published by the Government Actuaries Department and can be downloaded from the "download" section of this site.
